Youth On The Move
In 2001, Bishop De’Angelis, Father Vito assembled the youth
groups of the lay movements to unite for presen-tation at Marylake for the
Lay movements.
Groups included Fools For Christ, Global Beacon, Tottenham youth group, Folkalari,
and CFC Youth For Christ. The group put together a medley of the World Youth
Day songs from Manila, Denver and Rome. They have performed the medley at
other events such as the WYD kick off event in Nathan’s Phillips Square, the
Presentation of the New WYD song, the WYD symposium between the University
of Toronto and the University of Rome and the pre-WYD rally at Downsview park.
For WYD, the group created a new medley which included all the WYD songs,
including “Light of the World”. The success of the medley has also enabled
them to perform for the opening ceremony of WYD and the Papal welcoming ceremony.
If you don’t know who they are…they were the youth with the yellow t-shirts.
The success of the Youth on the Move is credited to their prayers and their
Love for the Lord. They are not a performance group. Through their talents,
they serve the Lord through worship and by bringing others close to Him through
their actions. You can sense this in the way they pray, sing and share their
faith with others. It’s a simple love for Him and for His people. You know
this is truly the Lord’s work when He puts together young people who have
never met, let alone serve with each other, to do great things like serving
in WYD.
